MARY TAVY COMMUNITY FIELD & HALL

The Field was purchased by public subscription as a memorial to those who lost their lives in World War II and a Trust was formed in 1946 for The maintenance and improvement of the physical well-being of residents in the beneficial area by the provision of facilities for physical training and recreation.

It is managed by the Mary Tavy Victory Memorial Recreation Ground Trust, registered charity no.300898, with much valued help from the Friends of the Field, the Mary Tavy Jubilee Group and other volunteers.

The Coronation Hall was built on part of the land which is let at a very low rent to the Trustees of the Hall.  Bookings and other aspects of running the Coronation Hall and Recreation Ground are undertaken separately.  Contact details for the Coronation Hall are on the Location & Contacts page

Mary Tavy Recreation Ground can be a tranquil place for relaxation, an active place for fun and sports, or a lively place for community events. It is a wonderful resource for everyone who lives in or visits Mary Tavy on the western edge of Dartmoor.

The Recreation Ground is right in the centre of the village and includes playing fields, kids' play area, tennis and 5-a-side courts, outdoor gym, changing rooms, plus woodland and wildflower areas.  There's plenty of space for strolling, running, walking dogs or picnicking, and there are great views over the Moor.

Many events take place on the Recreation Ground, such as Spring Fair, the Country Fayre and Bonfire Night. See Events & Activities.
